Screen Resolution Size Template

Use the following link as a template in regards to screen resolution. After opening the link and sizing your browser appropriately, view your own site in the newly framed aspect ratio. The statistics mentioned are very general from 2007 and only important to define our design stategy.

The #1 Screen Resolution to design for is 800x600. Less than 25% of people use this as thier primary resolution, but we error on the side of accessibility, you have only screen space to give them. Also note that some people may have access to higher resolution screens but use 800 x 600 at other locations.

1024x768, more than 50% worldwide web users use this resolution and the number is growing. If there is a need for space, because of content, functionality or design needs, use 1024x768. But take the 800x600 view into account when doing layout of page elements.

>1024x768, almost 25% of Web users use screen resolutions greater than 1024x768. In terms of Web accessibility, don't even bother to think of a reason to go here... Yet.

The Sony PSP has a resolution of 480x272. Why mention the Sony PSP? There are expected to be 29 million PSP users by the end of 2007.
